Why Ukraine needs TAURUS?
- The primary purpose of Ukraine’s acquisition of TAURUS missiles is the defense of its territories from Russian aggression.
- Ukraine’s Army needs long-range missiles to destroy Russian military facilities on the occupied territories deep behind the frontline. There is no intention to fire them at the Russian territory.
- The TAURUS will help Ukraine to destroy airfields and aircraft used by Russian invading troops to bombard Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure.
Ukrainian Armed Forces have proven their ability to use Western high-precision long-range weapons efficiently. The American ATACMS, British Storm Shadow and French SCALP missiles helped Ukraine to destroy invaders’ military facilities and ammunition warehouses.
The use of American, British and French missiles did not lead to an escalation of the conflict despite such claims. Likewise, the use of German missiles does not create this risk.
